Fess Parker, 2008, Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara, California

Fess Parker, 2008, Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara, California

Price: $24 per bottle

The Pinot had a dark red color, the nose was vibrant with tones of cherry and the soft tannins. There was lots of fruit with the first taste, I noted cherry, but the bottle talked about cranberries and blueberries. I could not pick out the cranberry or blueberry taste. The after taste had some nice soft tannins. Dried out my mouth a bit, then I was ready for another sip. The wine was very good, it meet of expectations of a special once a quarter wine. I would love to have this as an everyday wine, but could not afford it.

Fulkerson, 2008, Dornfelder, New York

Fulkerson, 2008, Dornfelder, New York
Price: $11 per bottle

This is a dark ruby red wine. Dornfelder is a grape that is originally from Germany and brought to the Finger Lakes area. It has a fruity nose. Sour cherry is noticed on the taste buds. A little sweetness at first then a tart after taste. Night one we drank it with pasta and red sauce, the second night with a dinner salad. The Dornfelder went well with both. This was a good purchase because a like to try new wines and I would purchase again. But would not go out of my way to find it. It is an everyday wine, that would be better if under $10.

Fulkerson, 2009, Riesling Reserve, New York

Fulkerson, 2009, Riesling Reserve, New York
Price $15 per bottle

The wine is light yellow in color and the clarity is nice and clear. There was not much of a nose. The first sip had some hints of sour apple and was smooth going down. The went well with the crab cake sandwiches we had for dinner. The mixed vegetables revealed the grapefruit flavor of the wine. Throughout the glass I enjoyed tartness that this wine provided.

Glenora, 2008, Sangiovese, New York

Glenora, 2008, Sangiovese, New York
Price $17 per bottle

Red clear color, lighter then I expected. The nose was fruity with some cedar scents. The fruit came through on the taste, while the cedar showed up on the finish. We enjoyed the wine with paste and red sauce.

Next time we are at Glenora we will purchase another bottle

Glenora, Seyval Blanc, 2008, New York

Glenora, Seyval Blanc, 2008, New York
Price $12 per bottle

The wine color is a light straw color. Hint of grapefruit and pineapple are found on the bouquet. The grapefruit and pineapple come through nicely went tasted and acid opened up my taste buds. I also picked up some buttery notes.

The Seyval Blanc was the bottle that Glenora had for us in our room when we stay there last March. It took us a month to open it.

The is something we will look for on our next Finger Lake wine trail event.
