Lost Vineyards, Merlot, Argentina

Lost Vineyards, Merlot, Argentina
Price –$3.

Nice red color. The noise was weak with some fruit on it. The taste was ok with some fruit. Tannins were present, but they were on the soft side. Overall this was an ok wine, but good for the price.

Santa Cristina Antinori, 2008, Sangiovese, Toscana, Italy

Santa Cristina Antinori, 2008, Sangiovese, Toscana, Italy
Price - $8.00 per bottle

The Sangiovese was a dark purple, it had hint of black cherry in the bouquet and on the mid pallet. The tannins were harsher then I expected. Even with the spaghetti and red sauce, the tannins overwhelmed the wine and food. . We had previously enjoyed the 2007 vintage, this one was disappointing.

Mondoro, Asti, Italy

Mondoro, Asti, Italy
Price $11 per bottle

The Asti was straw yellow. It had a sweet nose. The taste was smooth and sweet. It had a creamy after taste, that went well with the raspberries, strawberries and blueberries we had. We also had shrimp cocktail and cheese. The Mondoro asti is my wife’s favorite sparkling wine. We have another bottle in the refrigerator, all set for another quiet weekend.
