Alice White, 2008, Chardonnay,

Alice White, 2008, Chardonnay, South Eastern Australia

Day 2, after being recorked and refrigerated for 24 hours, the Chardonnay was reopened and poured. The bouquet and the taste had not been affected. This time we dined on swordfish and asparagus, both were seasoned with dill. This was a very nice food matching. The chardonnay complimented the dill flavor and the chardonnay tones were present for each sip during the meal.

Overall the swordfish was a better pairing then the garlic Shrimp dinner. We even have a couple of glasses left for this evening.

Alice White, 2008, Chardonnay

Alice White, 2008, Chardonnay, South Eastern Australia
Price – $13 for 1.5 liter bottle

Last night, we enjoyed this wine with Viola Garlic Shrimp dinner. The bouquet of the wine was weak, but nice. It had a crisp and clean texture, with some apple and citrus tones. The garlic shrimp had a buttery sauce on it, when drink the wine with the meal, must of the wine flavor was lost. The second glass after the meal the flavor of the wine was restored. We recapped the wine with a rubber cork and pressure pump. This helps keep the wine a few extra days. We will try it again tonight.

I give this wine 3 stars, it was a standard off the shelf Chardonnay. I would buy again to drink at home with a casual meal.

Mark West, Pinot Nior 2007

Mark West, 2007, Pinot Noir
Price $8.00 per glass

My wife and I went to the Lamplighter restaurant last evening. I ordered the Veal Parmesan, which I have done several times in the past. To go with the dinner I had a glass of Pinot Noir. The Pinot was a medium body wine with a good bouquet. It had a light fruity taste. The pinot was a good matching with the veal parmesan dish.

I give this wine 4 stars.

Chateau Ste Michelle, 2006, Cabernet Sauvignon

Chateau Ste Michelle, 2006, Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington
Price – $12.99 a bottle

Spring has started to arrive here. We put a couple of Bison sirloin steaks on our charcoal grill for the first times this year. Along with the steak, my wife made a side of mixed vegetables. To go along with this meal we opened a bottle of cabernet. The cabernet a was full body with a nice bouquet and dark red color. It had a rich taste that went well with the steaks. The second glass was as good as the first, I had a slice of cheddar cheese and a couple of piece of Dove dark chocolate. The chocolate and cabernet have been a favorite combination for us for many years. If you have not tried chocolate and cabernet you are missing out.

I give this wine 4 stars.
